As part of the City Manager’s Office, the Communications team is looking for a forward-thinking individual to be a Web and Graphic Designer. This position will include creating web and print products. The position requires independent work as well as working in a team environment. The incumbent would be responsible for designing newsletters, brochures, digital artwork, signage, and updating pages on websites.
This position will be responsible to:
· Work with Communications Advisors and internal clients on web pages, online features such as FOCUS (online staff magazine), surveys, and producing graphical content for social media
· Work with the Communications Advisors and internal clients on the development of printed pieces such as the Seniors’ Newsletter, brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, corporate templates and specialty pieces.
· Advise clients and departments about the most effective way to illustrate concepts and produce materials to meet the needs of the client and the corporation. Provide advice to other staff on appropriate use of brand and visual identity and approve final products for web publishing and print.
· Produce accessible products that meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), World Wide Web Consortium Level AA and city accessibility standards.
The successful applicant will possess a three-year University Degree or Diploma in Design or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years experience in graphic design and a minimum of 1 year experience updating website content. Attention to accuracy and detail is required. The successful applicant must be able to work in a MAC environment and be knowledgeable of current web technologies. Registered Graphic Designers designation is an asset.
$62,163 – $77,704 (Grade 9)
